Connection with the same quality as in large urban centres

dstelecom, based in Braga, has announced that by the end of January it will increase the capacity of its fibre optic network in Boticas, in the district of Vila Real, providing coverage to more than half of the municipality.

In a statement, the DST group company said that this work will allow around 3,000 families in the municipality ‘to enjoy high-speed broadband services with freedom of choice in subscribing to television, internet and telephone packages’.

Since 2014, dstelecom has been strengthening its fibre optic network in Boticas, which currently covers the localities of Beça, Boticas, Codessoso, Granja, Pinho, Sapiãos and Vilar, ensuring a ‘high-quality connection, comparable to that available in large urban centres’.

‘The reinforcement of the fibre optic network in Boticas is a fundamental step in our commitment to making high-speed internet accessible to all. Fibre optics are an essential infrastructure for social and economic development, ensuring that even the most remote locations have access to the opportunities of the digital world,’ explains Ricardo Salgado, CEO of dstelecom.

Dstelecom also stresses that residents of the municipality will still be able to ‘choose between several telecommunications operators that use dstelecom’s infrastructure.’

‘This multi-operator offer promotes competition, which guarantees more competitive prices and services tailored to the needs of each family,’ he notes.

Botiquenses can confirm the availability of fibre coverage in their area by providing their address or a reference point via email at euquerofibra@dstelecom.pt or by calling the toll-free number 800 910 660.

Dstelecom operates and maintains Europe’s ‘first and largest multi-operator’ fibre optic network, which currently covers 149 municipalities and connects almost one million homes, ‘especially in regions with the greatest digital divide’.

‘With the reinforcement in Boticas, the company reaffirms its commitment to an inclusive digital future, ensuring that all regions of the country, regardless of their location, can fully integrate into the digital economy,’ the company concluded.
