This June, an additional 1,700 families in Marco de Canaveses will gain access to fiber-optic connectivity. This initiative results from the partnership established between the Municipality of Marco de Canaveses and dstelecom. By August, the company and the municipality expect to make broadband services available to a further 4,550 homes.

The benefits of this service include higher speeds, greater bandwidth, and improved quality in telecommunications services. In total, around 6,250 families from Marco de Canaveses will be covered, across the parishes of Marco, Paredes de Viadores and Manhuncelos, Penha Longa and Paços de Gaiolo, Soalhães, Tabuado and Várzea, and Aliviada and Folhada.

“Our commitment is to improve the quality of life of the people of Marco, and this is also a path toward that goal. Having high-quality telecommunications services is essential for businesses, workers, students, and even leisure activities. The past year, during which we were confined to our homes and, in many cases, working remotely, highlighted the growing need for these services. We are pleased to once again be helping our population,” said Mário Bruno Magalhães, Councillor of the Marco de Canaveses Municipal Council.

The local authority representative also revealed that the municipality is “working to extend this service to other parishes in the very near future.”

Consumers can already check the availability of fiber network coverage at their homes by sending an email to euquerofibra@dstelecom.pt with their full address and, ideally, GPS coordinates.

According to dstelecom, this expansion—aligned with the company’s mission to deliver fiber-optic connectivity to areas with lower population density—“contributes not only to population retention, but also to the creation of new opportunities for the region, becoming a driver of attraction and increasing economic and social benefits.”
