The Municipality of Santa Marta de Penaguião has completed the first phase of expanding the fiber-optic network to several areas of the municipality. This initiative, representing a total investment of approximately €75,000, aims to connect local communities through a neutral fiber-optic network, open to all telecommunications operators, so that everyone can better serve the local population.
Following the reinforcement of coverage in the parishes of Alvações do Corgo, Medrões, Sever, Fontes, and the Union of the Parishes of Lobrigos (São Miguel and São João Batista) and Sanhoane, the Municipality’s goal is that, during the second half of 2021, an additional 2,500 homes will benefit from broadband services with the arrival of the network in Cumieira and in the Union of the Parishes of Louredo and Fornelos. This will ensure that all parishes in the municipality effectively have access to fiber-optic connectivity.
This investment will guarantee close to 100% fiber-optic coverage across the municipality, allowing more residents of Santa Marta de Penaguião to access telecommunications services with higher speeds, greater bandwidth, improved coverage, and superior quality.
At any time, residents can check the current availability of fiber network coverage at
