Malicious intent exists. It always has. And unfortunately, not even the COVID-19 pandemic has reduced this reality.
Malicious intent exists. It always has. And unfortunately, not even the COVID-19 pandemic has reduced this reality.
Particularly in rural areas, there continue to be very real reports of fraudsters posing as telecommunications technicians in order to gain access to the homes of elderly residents.
Based on this unfortunate reality, we want to raise awareness and alert local communities.
On our side, dstelecom’s telecommunications technicians remain active in the field—always following the appropriate safety measures—to respond not only to network maintenance and expansion services, but also to installation and customer support services in Portuguese homes (customer network).
It is therefore important to emphasize that any work carried out on the customer’s network is always preceded by a scheduled phone appointment. As such, if you receive an unscheduled visit, you should contact your telecommunications operator to confirm whether the person is indeed a legitimate professional.
If your operator is unaware of the visit, be suspicious, do not open the door, and immediately report the situation to the GNR (National Republican Guard).
