At dstelecom, we are increasingly committed not only to training people, but also to retaining talent. We have been welcoming curricular internships, particularly within the Network Operations Center (NOC), always with the goal of developing these professionals and keeping them with us.
The most recent example is Rui Fornelos. Originally from Arcos de Valdevez, Rui has nurtured a passion for technology from an early age.
Looking back on his first two months at dstelecom, he describes the experience as, from the very first moment, “challenging, enjoyable, and extremely rewarding.”
“Challenging because it put my knowledge to the test—not only technical skills, but also my way of thinking, particularly in terms of how to act as a telecommunications engineer. Enjoyable because it pushed me out of my comfort zone, which I truly appreciate. And rewarding because it contributes to my personal and professional growth.”
Rui admits that he completed his internship satisfied with his performance, which, in his view, earned him recognition from dstelecom.
“I honestly did everything I could to make sure things went as well as possible. From the very beginning, I felt that this was where I wanted to be.”
Looking ahead, Rui expects plenty of work—and, consequently, plenty of learning.
“I will gain experience in critical thinking, as well as strengthen my technical knowledge, contributing as much as possible to the smooth operation of the NOC and always seeking solutions to any challenges that may arise.”
Regarding his integration into the company, he highlights the team’s support and expresses his wish to be able to meet everyone in person very soon.
“I’ve always been treated impeccably, and being part of a young and dynamic team has been a real plus. I hope to meet the team in person soon, because nothing compares to face-to-face communication.”
