Stability: one of the advantages of fiber optics (2/5)

Estabilidade: uma das vantagens da fibra ótica (2/5)

Lower signal degradation and immunity to electromagnetic interference

Data communications are increasingly a necessity, and simply having internet access is no longer enough—it must be efficient and highly reliable.

In addition to high speeds and large bandwidth capacity, fiber optics are the transmission medium with the lowest signal degradation, allowing data to travel longer distances while maintaining high quality. Since the invention of fiber optics in 1970, signal loss has improved by approximately 100 times, and today it is extremely low.

Because data transmission is carried by light through a dielectric medium (glass), fiber-optic cables do not conduct electrical current. As a result, there is no risk of communications being affected by electromagnetic interference caused by other equipment—something that commonly impacts copper-based networks.

We would like to highlight that dstelecom’s business model focuses on building, managing, and operating a fiber-optic network in low-population-density areas, which is made available on a wholesale basis to the main telecommunications operators. This responsibility requires us to ensure full neutrality and transparency in our services. At the same time, we remain focused on ensuring that the key advantages of fiber optics reach every household through telecommunications operators.
