dstelecom, the DST Group's telecommunications arm, made its debut in the country's Central Region by extending its fiber optic network to more than 100,000 homes, spread across 17 municipalities. Until the end of the year, the focus is on expansion in the national territory.
The recent incursion into the Centro zone made dstelecom's objectives clear, to take optical fiber to 9 more municipalities in the region, including Condeixa-a-Nova and Castelo Branco, still in the first half of this year, covering a total of 176 thousand houses.
Currently, the company guarantees fiber coverage to around 725,000 homes, from the north to the south of the country and, with this growth rate, “the digital highway should reach more than 900 thousand families by the end of the year”, underlines the company.
“It is essential to continue to reduce regional asymmetries and promote access to digital media throughout the territory. The digital world cannot be a privilege of large urban centers and, for this very reason, we remain committed to bringing the digital highway to as many homes as possible”, says Ricardo Salgado, CEO of dstelecom.
The businessman also underlines that the objective is “to improve the quality of life of the populations, guaranteeing them connectivity and, thus, contributing to a better, more equitable and just society”.
Consumers can check the availability of fiber coverage in their area by going to www.dstelecom.pt/cobertura or by sending an email to euquerofibra@dstelecom.pt with the full address and, ideally, GPS coordinates. Alternatively, you can also talk to your telecommunications operator on 800 910 660.
