dstelecom announced the expansion of its multi-operator fiber optic network in Carrazeda de Ansiães, covering more than 3,200 new homes. With this operation, the total number of households in the municipality with access to the company's infrastructure rises to around 6,000, reaching 95% coverage.
Present in Carrazeda de Ansiães since 2014, this expansion phase includes parishes that until now had no fibre optic coverage, such as Pinhal do Norte, Pombal and the Amedo and Zedes Parish Union. Most of these localities will have access to the network as early as September, except for Vilarinho da Castanheira, which will be connected at the beginning of December.
The operation will also strengthen coverage in parishes where dstelecom was already present, such as Carrazeda de Ansiães, Linhares and Marzagão, allowing more residents to have access to modern and fast connectivity.
Ricardo Salgado, CEO of dstelecom, said that "dstelecom continues to invest in digital inclusion in less densely populated regions, with the aim of guaranteeing everyone access to high-speed internet, comparable to that available in large urban centres."
The new infrastructure will allow internet access via several operators, promoting competition and offering greater diversity of services and prices to local consumers, the press release emphasises.
