By the end of October, dstelecom will expand its fiber optic network in Ponte de Sor, covering 100% of Vale do Bispo Fundeiro, bringing the total number of homes in the municipality covered by the company's infrastructure to over 11,000.
With this expansion, around 11,000 families in the region will be able to access the latest generation of broadband services, corresponding to 94% coverage across the municipality. This operation will reduce digital inequalities and promote equal opportunities in access to technology among all residents.
The town of Vale do Bispo Fundeiro, which until now had no coverage, will now have access to these services, representing a particularly significant step forward in promoting digital inclusion and development in the region.
‘This intervention represents dstelecom's commitment to promoting digital inclusion and equal access to new technologies in less densely populated regions. We seek to make Portugal an increasingly connected, cohesive and competitive country, where the distance between large urban centres and the interior is only territorial,’ emphasises Ricardo Salgado, CEO of dstelecom.
It should be noted that the municipality of Ponte de Sor is covered by the international public tender for the installation of broadband networks in so-called ‘white areas’, a project that aims to bring fiber optics to 100% of households by 2028.
The dstelecom network offers residents the freedom to choose between several telecommunications operators, promoting competition and ensuring more competitive prices and a greater diversity of services.
