By the spring of next year, “all of Valença's parishes” will be covered by the latest generation multi-operator fiber optic network.

The forecast was announced this Tuesday by the Municipality, at a time when the network is being expanded, in stages, in the parishes of Boivão, Cerdal, Fontoura, Gandra and Taião, Ganfei, Gondomil, São Julião and Silva.

With the completion of this work, carried out by dstelecom, Valença will have the entire geographical area of the municipality covered by the fiber optic network.

“This is a great asset for families and businesses in the municipality of Valença, who will now be able to contract state-of-the-art communication services from any operator, guaranteeing television, internet and telephone with greater speed, bandwidth, coverage and quality,” says the municipality.

The Mayor, José Manuel Carpinteira, recalls that “the extension of the fiber optic network to the entire municipality was assumed as a priority by the current executive, who has been working with dstelecom to make this investment a reality since 2021”.

“This is excellent news for Valencians, who now have more communication options, and for local companies, reinforcing the attractiveness and competitiveness of the municipality, with state-of-the-art communication networks, in a context where new work challenges, such as teleworking, are evident.”

Ricardo Salgado, CEO of dstelecom, explains that this expansion is in line with the aim of bringing fiber optics to areas of the country where there is a greater digital shortage.

“It will contribute not only to the population's settlement, but also to the creation of new business opportunities for Valença, thus increasing the territory's economic and social benefits,” he says.

“It was with the aim of improving the quality of life of all Valencians that we decided to invest in the municipality. I'm convinced that this digital highway of ours will do more to help people settle and attract investment than the asphalt highways promised us,” he adds.
