Celorico de Basto is continuing its commitment to installing a fibre optic network, this time in the parish of Basto (S. Clemente), namely in the towns of Portelinha, Vilar and São Sebastião, which are now equipped with this infrastructure.

José Peixoto Lima, mayor of Celorico de Basto, stresses that ‘this expansion of the fibre optic network is crucial for creating value by providing our territory with an essential tool for the global world we live in’.

The mayor adds that ‘we all know that technology is essential for reducing the asymmetries we feel as an inland region. It is essential for the work of our residents and it is fundamental for attracting private investment, which is why I am very pleased to see that a large part of our territory will be equipped with a fibre optic network in the very short term.’

The work to expand the fibre optic network in the municipality will continue, and it is expected that by the end of the first half of this year 95% of the territory will be covered, which translates into more than 10,000 homes with an effective connection.
